Weird damage on bonnet

Hi everyone,

I've realised some pretty bad damage almost all over my bonnet, which I have no clue what this could be or how it happened in the first place. By feeling it, doesn't really feel any different to other parts of the bonnet which are fine, anyone here got any ideas of what it could be and how I could get rid of it?

This damage is also only on the bonnet, and no other parts of the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would get a clay bar and give it a good going over. If the clay bar doesn't clear it up then it could be a problem with the lacquer.

The issue is with the clear coat. It may be repairable.

Looks like a lacquer issue. Has the bonnet been resprayed at some point?
WD40 used as shine does the cracking....just thinking out loud, not saying that has happened. Not so sure what caused the scratching in the clear coat.

Not that I’m aware of, however the colour of the 'normal' parts of the bonnet are identical to the rest of the car.

Yeah, in that case maybe a hand car wash would've caused it?
I would try Meguiar's or like products on it.

Meguiar's Scratch-X might get it back from terminal looking. I've not used it on something this bad before, and that would be after using clay.
