Hi, I have a 2005 307 petrol xsi which I bought a few months ago. Until now the water temperature usually sat around 85 but since yesterday the guage has been constantly moving about between 70-90. It's not a smooth movement either, the needle jumps about erratically. Does anyone know what the problem is likely to be?
Thanks, Simon

Possibly a sticky thermostat?

If not try replacing the coolant temperature sensor (pretty cheap off the internet).

Try the sensor first as its less invasive and a quicker job... just don't do it while the engines hot as you risk burning yourself.

Instead wait untill its cooled but not cold as the heat will soften the o-ring, making it easier to remove the sensor.
