It can in the correct format BUT not without the parking brake being applied.

mp4, flv, mkv, vmw, 3gp or 3g2 - notice there's no avi.
The video must have 640x360 maximum resolution.
And the infotainment system must have DAB support to play video files from the USB flash drive.

I convert my 16:9 material to 640 x 386 mp4 to use as much of the display as possible without any obvious distortion.

I'd have to experiment for 4:3 or wider format movies to establish best results.

It would be illegal in the UK to view a video on the centre screen if the car was moving unless it was shielded from the drivers view making it impossible for it to be seen. As a retired black rat I've had to enforce this in the past.

Also depends on the codec. I have some MP4's that play, and some that don't even though they are the same size. Same with flv.

I gave up in the end. It's a gimmick that times out after 30min with the engine off..
