Hi, my mum had bought a 407sw, 57 reg, and it's a really nice car. Mechanically is is very clean underneath and in the engine bay.

It drives well, but there is an annoying subtle knock, like a quiet thump hitting the bulkhead or footwell area when pulling away.
It doesn't do it every time and to varying degrees (loudness) when it does.
Suspension and steering joints, and engine mounts all look fine.
Moving off in 1st gear and reverse on flat ground usually doesn't make the noise when you try make it happen.
Again, in 1st gear and reverse with brakes on and trying to move when engine loaded has no knocking at all.
Clutch is smooth and quiet whenever used.
Exhaust was checked at local exhaust place and they said it was secure and clear of the body.
It recently passed it's MOT with no advisories.

I know it's hard to diagnose a knock on a forum, just looking to see if there are any common issues that may cause this knock.
It's turning out to be a pig to find as you cant really lie under the car as it pulls away (well, I'm not prepared to do that!)

Usual suspects will be the lower swivel joint or the drop links to the rollbar.
You won't feel play in the drop links unless you jack the wheel off the ground.
Play in the swivel joints needs to be done with the wheel off the ground and try to move it with a tyre lever or crowbar.
