hi i own a 307 hdi d turbo. its on a 51 plate but a 2002 model. does anyone know if this model has the F.A.P? I get a warning sign saying unblock diesel filter and after asking around this word seems to crop up.

my car has done 95000 miles and i have just serviced it. how much does an FAP filter cost and where can i buy one from. does it need replacing or some people say you can regenerate them?

To regenerate ,The fuel additive is only used during a special mode at time of service to clean the exhaust particulate filter in the exhaust system.

the dealer puts the engine management into a special mode which causes the exhaust gas to be very hot, this burns the trapped carbon in the filter - the additive should not be used at any other time.

job for a dealer or specialist independant i'm afraid.

if you want to check the diesel filter it is under the engine cover, centre front of block.about 100mm diameter, black plastic, with a screw-on ring to hold it together. You will see all the fuel pipes connecting to the top
together.
Warning, according to Haynes, it is a b*****d to open, and they wrecked
theirs in the process.
hope this is of help :thumb:

i had my car checked out by an independant garage. the engine managemendt machine said that the additive level was low thats why the message was appearing. the mechanic doesnt reckons the filter needs changing or anything so i just need to get some more additive. do you know what it is called exactly? i dont know what im looking for!!

I changed mine yesterday and it was a pig to do. I had to remove the housing from the car to unscrew it, it then took two well built men to unsrew the casing, the filter was well black & clogged, probably never changed. Then it took nearl twenty min's to bleed before it would start. Good luck
