Hi All, Just a quick question.

407, 1.6 HDi, 55 Plate

I am about to replace the Turbo Vacuum Solenoid on the above car, I have a question relating to the activation of the solenoid.

I know it gets a 12v signal that activates the Solenoid to allow the vacuum to work, but my question is WHAT triggers that 12v signal? is it triggered by the MAF?

I only ask as I'm not 100% convinced that it's the solenoid at fault and could be whatever sends the 12v.

I might be clutching at straws or jumping the gun but just thought I would ask.

Cheers

Solenoids are all controlled by the ecu they are told what to do depending on various inputs from other sensors so if all the inputs are as expected the solenoid is controlled as expected by the ecu it is not a constant feed it is constantly varying.

What fault/symptom do you have that makes you want to replace the solenoid?
I put a vacuum gauge on before the Solenoid and it showed a solid vacuum at idle and when revving, put the gauge on after the solenoid and it showed a lower vacuum reading and the vacuum dropped significantly when revved.

I know the reading will be a little lower after the solenoid, I have a post on here showing a quick video of the 2 above scenario's.

Cheers
