Picked up our 2.0 GT Line last week complete with Peugeot towbar and 13pin socket. When connected to caravan all van's lights (LED lights) come on and trailer connection fault messages displayed. Guess this is a result of the low resistance feed back due to the LED lights. Dealer unable to resolve and no help from Peugeot. Caravan is 2016 and LED lights are becoming the norm and future. The car is part of the new generation in technology but fails to live in it! Any one got the same problem and solved it?

Thanks Eccles...... the link to the smart plug in relay is a unit already sourced by my dealer locally. Unfortunately it only supports limited number of lights and does not supply power to the caravan's onboard services e.g. fridge etc.

Thanks Brilec.......very interesting no mention of this has been made. Big reason for changing our car at this time was an upgrade from 1.6 to 2.0 diesel in time for new caravan season. Already had last model 3008 and was in mind to go for the Seat Ateca untill my dealer made me an excellent deal. Actually like the Peugeot better but......!

Thanks Pinkaardvark. ......we have even been down this root too. Have spoken with Swift and the electronics company, Sargent Ltd they have developed the plugins with. Also been back to our suppling Swift dealer to put car through their test kit to identify the relavent plugin with out success. Rapdly loosing the will to live at the moment.

Sounds like a massive ballache, hope you get it resolved.. I can't see why the 3008 would be much different from other cars though. Be interested to hear what you're towing(weight) wise and how you get on with the 150ps diesel I assume??

As of last night problem is solved. Our caravan is a 2016 Swift Challenger 480 with LED road lights.
The solution comes in the form of a so called ' all singing all dancing' box produced by Sargent Ltd. known as the VLM4-E4 unit. It is not yet shown on their web site but talking to their technical guys they recomended it as a solution. My Swift dealer had one in stock so collected it on a sale or return basis. It's basically 'plug and play' a bit of a faff physically fitting to van's bulkhead but not too bad. Instructions in the box were for a differnt/simpler version but a call to Sargent tech team resulted in brilliant (and patient) live step by step instructions cabling up and bingo! Devon here we come.

Peugeot 3008 SUV GT Line 2018

Can someone advice me if the problem with connecting to Swift Sprite 2018 caravan with LED lighting with a factory fitted tow bar and electrics is solved by using Sargent VLM4-E4 VLN device. I noticed someone reported this problem in May/June 2017.

Thanks in advance

Garry

Peugeot 3008 LED lighting

Can anyone advise if the solution posted in June 2017 of using a Sargent VLM4-E4 to resolve issues with connecting to caravans with LED lighting from a factory fitted tow bar and electrics on a Peugeot 3008 SUV. Is this still the recommended solution.

Peugeot NOT helping their customers base with LED lighting issue

Thought everyone should know that Peugeot have known about the problem with cinnecting a Peugeot fitted tow bar and electrics with trailer/caravan with LED lighting for at least 1 year. They have now added a comment on the part if you dig deep enough “not fit for LED lighting”, which isn’t obvious to most Peugeot parts staff and you can end up having it all fitted to find out later when you try to connect you caravan or trailer.

Why can’t Peugeot work with Caravan specialist to resolve this known issue, then you won’t end up as I have now totally reliant on the caravan manufacturer resolving the issue.
