Tomtom and the 3G network

I see from this mornings paper that mobile networks are looking to get rid of 3G. Does anyone know how this will impact on live traffic services on our 3008's navigating systems.

My subscription is due in a couple of months and I don't really want to fork out money for something that's going to be worse than it already is.

use the maps on your phone.
More reiable and free especially "Waze"
I will if push comes to shove but I'm not a fan of Waze or Googlemaps.

TomTom has a mobile version which works with Android Auto
It's called AmiGO
I've tried AmiGo for the first time today and I'm impressed with it. I'm in France and it picked up all the danger zones. I'll try it properly when I get home and have unlimited data on the phone. I need to work out how to put way points in if that's possible.

My 2018 3008 had perfect traffic services. I’d renewed it before I sold it and it was perfection.
I have just bought a new 3008 (regd May 2023) and the new system has problems. Looking at another forum, I’m not the only person with the problem.
Someone suggested holding down the piano key for the phone for about 30 seconds will reboot the system… it sometimes works.
The dealer is not really interested… one guy sitting behind his desk said I’d just have to wait until another satellite links to the system.
The dealers can tell you abut the 3g problem
I sent in a customer services request asking the question a couple of days ago. Much to my surprise the phoned me back today and stated that the loss of 3g in the UK would not effect the Tomtom live services at all.

Hopefully they're right.
Cars 2016 and prior will stop at the end of 2023, but cars from 2017 it looks like they will begin to stop possibly around 2026 as the mobile networks close down 2G/3G. So I guess a 3 year renewal done this year on Connected Services may just about continue to function depending on network availability in your area.

I have a mobile phone but its Pay As You Go as not used regularly, so a better (but more expensive) tariff would be needed to use the Satnav apps on my phone with the data they would use for the traffic reports etc.

Like Yorky52 I contacted Peugeot customer service last week who called me today and said my 2017 car will continue working after the 2G/3G phone network closes down. They said the car doesnt use that 2G/3G network. So it looks like we'll have to wait and see.

Good news!
I was in the dealership yesterday and told them in no uncertain terms I wanted the problem with Tom Tom Traffic escalated.
While I was having the conversation with Service , the salesman, who I used to work with many years ago, saw me and asked how the car was going…. I explained the problem and he said he had just been speaking with someone he knew at Peugeot and there was an upgrade for the Nav Screen, which he’d done and it now worked 100%.
I’ve booked mine in for 21st June for the update to be done.
