Just spoken to Peugeot Head Office because I know a few owners want to get their vehicles connected to Tom Tom Live Services, and some of the dealers seem clueless.

Apparently Peugeot sent out comprehensive instructions to each dealer setting out how to connect the vehicles, and we should have all been asked to sign the Live Services agreement at the handover, authorising connection. This is then processed by Peugeot in France.

Peugeot UK are concerned that this doesn't seem to have been done, and are going to issue an urgent reminder to all dealers today.

Apparently the Live Services run off the SIM that is pre-installed in the car, so no need to connect your phone.

However, the disappointing news is that there is no access to speed camera information, or at least that was the understanding of the senior manager I spoke to.

I call BS funny everyone that has their car no one has their TT connect working more like Peugeot UK themselves forgot to send out bulletin least they are rectifying that now. Very bad news about not being able to have speed camera's I am doubting this as this is a good revenue generator for TomTom and doubt they would miss out on this. Lets see when the connect is working.

I agree, and can't see why cameras wouldn't be included. I am only going on what he told me, but he said the information on how to connect the cars went out well in advance of anyone taking delivery, and that it was a very simple operation for them, and only required the push of two buttons in the car by the owner. Not sure which two buttons though.

Only reporting what he told me, but I would be very surprised if it wasn't included, as other manufacturers who use these same Live Services provide speed camera data.

Unfortunately my current 3008 developed a parking brake fault and I couldn't get it fixed at my normal dealer as they were so busy. I took it to another dealer and whilst there I asked about the Tomtom activation.

They told me that they knew the activation was done at point of sale and had been sent instructions from Peugeot. Unfortunately they couldn't make sense of the instructions and have had to ask Peugeot to send a specialist to teach them how to do it. I didn't ask about the speed cameras.

Did the other dealer fix the Parking brake fault what was wrong. Instructions probably got lost in translation.

Fortunately they did and very quickly. A broken cable to the ABS sensor repaired under warranty. Good job really as I'm part exing it for the new 3008 and I didn't want to start paying out for expensive repairs a few weeks before the exchange.

If some of the dealers are like mine, I'm not surprised they can't understand instructions. These would have gone to the service dept Managers, so if they can't work it out, I'm a bit worried how they will deal with any new hi-tech equipment issues that may occur in the 3008.

Perhaps Peugeot should send them out the Ladybird Books Janet & John version in large black print, with pretty pictures, and no difficult words.

It does beg the question that if they didn't understand it, why not clarify it at the time, before sending out customers in cars??.

The answer to that question is simple. They are primarily interested in relieving you and others of the plastic, metal and paper material weighing your wallet down, nothing else.

This may seem a stupid question, but be mindful I haven't got my 3008 yet so cant see the screen, but how will you know your Tom Tom account has been activated once you've signed the contract.

Will you get an email, letter, message on the screen or new icon on the top bar of the screen?

After all the rubbish and untruths I've had from Peugeot since I placed my order, I want proof its working as it should.

I think the honest answer is none of us know until ours are activated

I went to my dealer this morning determined for them to sort the TomTom live out, they like all dealers didn't have a clue, I persevered with them parts manager service manager sales manager all trying to get to the bottom how to activate, did I have success partially I cant be sure think it was one of the sales guys could have been a manager said he remembered getting a email about it which he found, by this time my wife was fed up so I left it with them with a promise they would sort it out. I'll give it a few days and get back on them squeaky wheel and all that.

As far as I know once connected/activated the icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen changes to read "Tomtom Traffic".

The whole thing is a joke. What Peugeot should have done is just provide a code in the handover pack so that it could be activated with either a phone call, or by entering the code in the car. Trusting the dealer to do anything more complicated than that was asking for trouble.

Probably the easiest thing would be to plug the car into the computer in the workshop and connect to peugeots servers in france and let the french people fix it its obviously way to complicated for the uk dealers to understand :)

I have had an e-mail from the sales manager at my dealer and he has confirmed that the set up for Tom Tom Live is very complicated, and badly explained in the instructions sent out by Peugeot. They want to try and set it up in my car next Monday, but I'm wondering if I want it used as a guinea pig if they don't really know what they're doing!! Think I'll suggest he experiments on their demonstrator first.

The mechanic cane out this morning at my dealer he had printed sheets detailing the setup procedure not complicated at all I sat in the car with him but its all useless unless its been activated by Peugeot its like trying to receive phone calls on a mobile phone where the sim hasn't been activated. Let him have a go sit in the car with him there's nothing he can bugger up.
