Hi, just had the pleasure of having the timing belt go on my 04 1.6 hdi 110bhp 407 on saturday, theres 78K miles on it. According to my local Peugeot dealer, there's a 90K miles or 5yr recommended change on the timing belt.

Does anyone know if there is an interference or clearance engine on this car? ie: are the valves going to be damaged or can you get away with it?
My mechanic is going to rip the engine apart today to find out but I'm not hopeful :(

Also I was getting the 'ESP/ASR' warning and the 'Particulatite filter' warning, are these two connected or are they seperate issues?
I know that Peugeot reccommend the use of the low sap oil in the engine for emissions sensor.

The drivers side CV joint has started to go (hearing a bit of ticking at full lock) and the ESP warning started to pop up at around the same time so I'm wondering if the joint is something to do with the warning comming up?

Any help people can give would be greatly appreciated :thumb:

Timing belt & particulate filter, I'd sit down and hold your breath when they tell you the repair/ regeneration costs for those.

ESP/ASR is normally a quick & easy fix which you can normally get around by cleaning the sensor.

Found out that the water pump seized up solid and thats what caused the timing belt to break, hoping that the valves arent bent :eek:

Where is the sensor for that system? Is it a simple job or one you have to have the car on a lift to accomplish?
