Hi all, I have acquired a 2003 807 2.0 hdi. The timing belt was changed at 90k in 2008, should I do it again now or will it be fine as the vehicle now sits at 160k. I have heard some horror stories about these engines and timing belts but it looks a pain in the ass to do.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I had a quick look this morning and I cannot seem to see the crank locking location. I presume the cam locking hole is through the cam sprockets into the cylinder head. The water pump was replaced at 120k but they left the original belt on by the looks of it. How stupid.
Any tips on working on this engine because it looks very inaccessible.

Bottom pulley bolt can also be a swine to get undone.

May not be the offical way to loosen but if you dont have a rattler gun I have fitted a breaker bar and socket to the bolt, wedged the breaker bar against the sub frame with a wooden block and given it a quick kick on the starter to loosen.
