Car is 18 months old and has done 25000 miles. So having only owned my 308SW for six months I have decided that the monthly visit to the dealer for warranty work has become a bit of a chore!

Some may say warranty is warranty but for myself its the continued inconvenience that has really sealed the fate of what has generally on the face of it been a great car. Its also the hassle of resolving other transport as the car is funded by work!

Positives

Milage MPG is great.
Nice to drive
Comfortable.

Negatives

Too unreliable to trust long term.

Why

Week 2 of owning the car, discovered rust behind the dashboard requiring a full dash remove only after some arguments. Dealer said rust here was acceptable as it was surface only!

Resolved, but then had random issues with the NAC unit rebooting. Peugeot decided is was a configuration issue so reset.

That problem went away but they introduced problems with the air-con. Will not control the temp on hot days. Unable to resolve as yet!

Intermittent problem with aloud thud when starting the engine from cold. Sounds almost like the car has stalled. Confirmed by dealer but no-solution.

Split turbo hose.

So after a lot os soul searching she has to go. Too much concern that once out of warranty its going to be expensive.

Ironically bought an Audi 5 years out of warranty as I expect the overall costs to be lower.

Not helped by dealer insisting non approved peugeot fitted tyres will invalidate the warranty. Full set of tyres and rear pads were quoted at £1000+ but don't worry the full price was £1400+, we have offered you a Customer discount!!!

Garage have confirmed that the aircon ecu is faulty but non in stock in uk. Car is going next week so needs to be repaired.

No answer on the thud but they have replaced the turbo hose!

Did not check the aircon further as they needed to see if the turbo hose replacement cured the problems. ?

Yet another example of dealers/peugeot themselves chasing away customers nothing ever changes.

At least in the 80s early 90s they were actually making good cars that were overall reliable so they could get away with the poor customer service but nowadays they really NEED every customer they can get and the never ending list of supply issues and warranty issues are going to hit them in the pocket in the long term maybe they are going to rebrand Peugeot as Vauxhall :)
