Hi new member to the forum. I am thinking of buying a Peugeot 407sw 2.7 hdi executive 2007 from my father in law. The car has round 92000 miles and has full history and cambelt replaced last year. Having never owned a Peugeot before what are they like to live with. Its fairly high spec with sat nav and built in phone but will it have built in Bluetooth that i can stream music from as father in law is unsure. Any other known issues worth mentioning. Thanks

Not that I'm aware of. Just want to know what they're like really

Just wanted to know what they're like really. Are they reliable. I've also read online about a dpf cleaning fluid that needs to be added every so often. Does this need to be added alot or every know and then. Ive owned plenty of cars in the past but this will be my first Peugeot although my wife had a 206 when she first passed her test but I never drove it. Thanks

Dpf fluid typically needs topping up between 80k to 120k depending on useage etc but the executive doesn't have dpf so you don't need to worry about that, the car you mentioned has service history so should be fine. Like everything else !mechanical things can and do wear out/break, but my policy is if the car beeps fix the issue. My car is 2006 with 140k and drives like a car with 100k less but again it gets serviced every 12 months, we have cars on the FB page with up to 270k miles

Brilliant thank you. Do the egr valves cause many issues on these. Is it worth blanking them off or will it throw up eml light. My father in law has been using it for the last 18 months but due too ill health its been standing for the last 3 months. Battery seems OK but would it cause any issues if I was to remove battery from boot to give it a charge. Its been a reliable car for him so hopefully it will continue. Is there a way to get Bluetooth in the car for streaming music. It's got a box fitted to it for aux and USB but ideally would like Bluetooth

All 2.7s have a DPF (2.0 Zenith and X-Line do not, all others do).

Here's how the DFP works: https://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/1306802-post2.html
Install an LED in the door mirror and don't end your journey in the middle of a regen.

EGR is blankable.

They eat ABS sensors.

2.7: thermostat housing is known to crack and leak.

Auto: change the gearbox oil.

No bluetooth music streaming.
If the system is RT3 (menu icons in two rows) then there aren't really any options.
RT4 (menu icons in a circle) then you can store MP3s on its internal hard drive and you can add USB.

Late 2008+ onwards, the 407 came with a different ABS module and sensors. I've got it and driven 40k and never had ABS sensor issues.. and who knows how old the ABS sensors are on my car! :thumb:
