hi guys… just picked up some alloys and tyres for my SW, do i need new wheel nuts as well or will the steel ones suffice?

Depends on the shape of the seat (area where the bolt touches the rim)
Steel rims are, IME, likely to use conical while for instance Peugeot original alloys use (always?) a flat seat. You need the correct seat for the alloy rims in question.

Conical (might actually have differing tapers too...)


Spherical, might possibly have different radius...

Took this pic years ago cos someone wanted to know something,went out whipped bolt off took pic and bolt back on so no time for cleaning lol
