Hi guys. I have just removed the starter motor and dismantled it to find
loads of oily gunk inside plus the commutator has a burned out section,so I
ordered a new one. The outside of the motor is quite oily. I removed the
housing that has two butterflies inside it and this is quite oily aswell.Where
is this oil coming from?
I have read elseware on the forum, that the oil penetrating the starter
motor is not uncommon on the 807 . I need to find the cause before this
new motor suffers the same fate.
Cheers, Peter.

Sorry not sure what the housing is but it looks like oil is leaking from above. On our 807 with 220K miles the oil on the starter comes from leaks from the flaps in the splitter intake housing removed in your photo.
The flaps are there to either let intake air in prior to the intercooler or when engine is hot air is diverted into the intercooler to cool it before combustion. Doesn't use much oil so have not bothered replacing the intake housing.
