I am so disappointed, my Dad collected my car yesterday was taking it to his place had to stop at some traffic lights and the automatic transmission died on him :-( His place is just 10 mins away from where he got the car, so he's had to get ahold of them to get it taken away and fixed, but the guy hasnt phoned him yet :(

Dad said he managed to get it back to his place by selecting 2nd gear, but everything else on the auto box the rev counter goes up the car doesn't move much.

I was looking forward to getting my 1st car on Tuesday next week, but doesn't look likely now. Paid insurance on a car I haven't got to drive how rude lol.

Only done 39,000 miles - I didnt know if maybe transmission fliud was low, but dad said he couldn't even find where the tank is for it, as in the handbook it doesn't show 1.6 auto only the 1.8 auto but it's not in the same place.

There isn't a tank for gearbox oil (transmission fluid), it goes in the gearbox itself.

What did I say about dealers? Don't trust em.
LOL, but this is no time for I told you so's.
Make that bump back to the dealers, that is their issue. Not yours!
Also, Don't believe that 39,000 unless you have been through all the docs/mot's and can see its genuine.

Again, never trust a dealer.

The 39,000 is genuine all the documents etc prove that. And I paid for a carcheck thingy bob.

The garage dad got it from are picking it up today, and they have booked it into a Peugeot Garage, who are going to plug it up to their computers and see what the problem is.

The car has only done 500 miles since it was serviced last june - every piece of document etc clarifies this and the milage to be correct, so I guess it's just one of those things, but better it happen then, than after Dad had brought it down here for me cus the garage/place dad brought from are being very good in getting the car sorted out. :)

Strange though, dad managed to get the car on the drive today, the auto transmission decided to work, but yesterday dad couldnt get it on the drive ... oh well hopefully Peugeot can diagnois and fix my pugger :)

Al4 gearbox is majorly troublesome. Torque converter breaks up. Only thing that can be tried is to get the gear oil changed a few times and see how it goes.

My first car was a Ford Escort 1.4 (bought it from a friend who bought it from us)... bought it for £60 as it had done 104,000 miles, and it was a wreck... literally - no bumper, oil, water, fuel, or wing mirrors... as soon as I repaired it (did the repairs myself costing just over £100 in parts) the cambelt snapped when I tried to drive it and broke 2 engine pistons. Scrapped it for £50. Never bought insurance for it, but I was pretty pissed off that it was dead. I used the £50 to buy new car mats, a soft cloth and chamois leather for my Pug :)

At last I get my pug today! Shame I am working 10am til 9pm though lol.

The seals had gone on my auto gear box, so they stripped it out to put a replacement in...but the guy had given specialists the wrong gear box (my pug has sports mode on it) so they've resealed my gearbox, dad's been driving it around for a few days and is all happy with it, so today he is bringing down to me! I am so excited - again lol he's bringing it down to my work so I can take my lunch break and have a drive in it plus put petrol in lol!

Couple questions...Can anybody tell me what the button with '1' on means on an auto transmission? My car has an ice/snow button, the sports mode button and this '1' button too but the manual doesn't refer to the 1.6 in auto only the 1.8 and that has no reference to it.

Also, on the auto gear shift, is p, d, n r 1,2 3, etc supposed to illuminate at night? As dad said the buttons '1', sports and ice illuminate at night, but nothing to tell you what gear ur in...but it does have a pretty specific diagram/feature where all the speedo dials etc are which has amber lights on to tell you if ur in park etc..... ?

Many thanks,

off to work I walk...for the last time! lol x
