We must say it a million times - find a local member on here close to you who has the Peugeot Planet diagnostic equipment. Invite them over, ply them with tea and biscuits and you'll get a diagnostic test.

Is there no actual mechanics on on here all you ever hear is get pp, find pp, what codes, ffs its obviously a mechanical issue that someone must have come across before.

Well you're a pleasant little ray of sunshine aren't you?

I'd have thought it could be any number of things, hence the diagnostic angle.

yes your rite its mechanical BUT.................... to find the right problem on a 307 you need diagnotics to tell you first take it to a garage they will diagnose it other wise its changing everything and costing a fortune

how do i know i am a mechanic and with out pp2000 u struggle on pugs and citreons and renualts

there are several mechanics on here and some are peugeot specialists davidireland to name one for you.they are very respected and go out of their way to come on here and help others after doing a hard days work in the garage.peugeots have a awfull lot of sensors and ecus to go wrong if you didnt get a diagnostics done youd be throwing parts at it no end which would work out expensive for you.take it to a garage for diagnostic £50 -£90 or as suggested find a local member on here to do it for beer money the choice is yours...

I can think of at least three things it could be, but I'm not going to take any chances and say "yeah, x is damaged" or "buy a new y" or "try swapping z" because if you replace all three you've wasted your money by replacing one or two possibly good, faultless parts.

Then we'd only get abuse for giving incorrect advice.

Stick Planet on your car and the fault is pinpointed. Any garage worth their salt would do the same. They wouldn't throw non returnable (or returnable for a restocking fee) parts at a car in some random stab in the dark at fixing it.

We're only trying to save you time and money.

Sorr i didn't realise it was only mechanics that had a hard days work. I understand the need for diagnostics but surely after 3 or 4 times its easier to ask if anybody has experienced the same instead of paying for a diagnostics check every time

If you feel you'd like to pay for info I'll provide all the info you require.

Spend the money and get a diagnostic check done and stop whinging. I'll help you then. But I can't without a certain amount of info from you.

I challenge you to ring 20 garages and give them your fault over the phone.

All of them will ask you to bring it in, none will say "yes, it's xxxxx".

But if you want us to guess at it then fine, I'll plump for MAF sensor. RRP around £100. But don't come back crying if it doesn't fix it.

We are helpful people, we'll bend over backwards to help for free, but we can't diagnose a fault from a basic description of smoke from the rear when there's so much up front that could be causing it.

Take the 307 for example. You can get "anti pollution fault" on the screen but there are at least six things it could be when it appears. The "common" fault is the DPF. But when it appeared on my 307 I'd have wasted hundreds getting a replacement when my 90 BHP model doesn't even have one!

A lot of things you can do yourself,
check the lift pump, swap your fuel filter, FPR, etc

Rather than spend £80 on pp, you can buy a £20 OBDII fault code reader off the internet, will do 90% of what pp does,

actually NO!!!!
fault code reader reads a fault gives you a code which you then need to translerlate

pp2000 reads faults tells you where there are resets them does configuration can sort the setting up of the keys activates functions etc etc some what more than a code READER
