Hi,

Recently the driverside seat belt would no longer retract. There was no accident or collision, but never the less I assumed the pretensioner had activated. I whipped it out and as a temporary fix replaced it with one of the unused seatbelts in the boot. This works fine, but the airbag light is now on on the dashboard, I assume as the previous pretensioner has been unplugged and its replacement doesn't have a pretensioner.
I would like to order a new pretensioner unit and fit it myself as this is easy enough. Am I naive in thinking I can simply plug in a new pretensioner and the light will go out and all will be fine??
The local pug garage has advised that I will also need a new controller (or something like this) as the new pretensioner will not be recognised...
Any advise would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm sorry but I meant 'extend'. It would only retract to the point when there was no longer any slack, and then was completely locked and couldn't be extended any more...

Once you plug a new pre tensioner in and all is ok the light will go out.

Provided the car didn't fire it for some reason and log a crash code!

Planet can't get rid of those!
