Hi guys,

Silly mistake by self, so it may be a bit of comedy for you lot!

I’ve been doing work on my Peugeot 307 1.6 HDI 2007, I was changing the seals on a leaky injector.

Anyway, I bought this tool from eBay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/253757720610 to remove the copper seal.

First time I put it down the hole and try to remove it, the end threaded part of the tool falls off... Down the injector hole into the engine... I’d say it’s roughly 1 inch long and metal.

Anyway, I haven’t started it as I don’t know what damage it is going to do, but I can’t remove it either without taking the engine apart, which is far too advanced for me!

So do I scrap the car? Sell it for spares or repairs? Or by chance could it cause no damage by starting and driving it?

Thanks in advance, hope it was a little comedy on a Sunday afternoon, I’m surely not the first nor last to do it!

And you wont be the last one to make this mistake. You hope the copper washer comes off with the injector but rarely does. Go online and get a magnetic pick-up tool and hope that the bit in the chamber is ferrous. You could also try using some stiff wire bent with a shallow hook on the end and try fishing it out. You may get lucky both ways especially if the piston crown is at the top of the stroke. Failing all that, Im sure the head off by a back-street garage still runs cheaper than scrapping it..surely Oh,yes..DONT start it or it will end up a scrapper.
