software 6.63 and maps
Having difficulty obtaining these. Anybody got any current links?

Speed cams
Does the RT3 support "danger zones"?

RT4
Is the main difference that the 4 has a hard drive to store the maps and therefore doesn't need the map CD to be present?

CD player
Does the RT3 support MP3 CDs?
Can you insert a music CD at the same time as the map CD or is it either-or?

No danger zones option that i am aware of on RT3

Yes RT3 does read MP3 music discs (I think some early ones may not work 100% even with firmware update)

Navigation needs CD in drive all the time to work

Tried two different map CDs and it won't read either of them

Daren't try the software update. Or must the software be updated in order to read the maps?

Any ideas?

GUIDE FOR CLEANING RT3 LENS:

Hello colleagues, because there is nothing to do today I began to dismantle and clean the optics of the RT3. I made a few photos with a description of the process.I accept that the radio has been removed from the car and is in your hands.
This has been described in sufficient detail in many threads.

First remove the battery cover. The battery is detouched by only pulling the connector.

Then remove these two screws and remove the two washers.

Carefully pull the front panel forward. On the right side is the ribbon cable for SIM reader - there is some lenghth and after detouching the front panel it can be disconnected only by pulling.

We can then start with the disassembly of the housing. Unscrew these screws on the front and rear side:

Already the top cover with optics is free and can be removed. With a screwdriver lift gently on both sides. It is not attached in another location. We already have two pieces that are joined by a ribbon cable. It is a normal connector and detaches by teasing with a small screwdriver on both sides and gently pulling.

This is the under part with the ribbon cable:

We are interested in the top with the mechanics. Here the two white free connectors are the places where the ribbon cable that connects the top to the bottom is attouched.

Unscrew the bolts that hold the mechanics to the cover:

The cherished mechanics is in our hands. To reach the mechanical part unscrew the two screws that hold the board.

The board is shifted backward and the mechanics of the DVD-Rom are reached. The lens is still not visible anywhere. You start turning that wheel in the picture in the direction shown and the mechanism of the lens begins to move in the arrowed direction. Move it until it reaches the end - WITHOUT Forcingtoo much, I think this clear but still ...

After moving the mechanism and rotate the mechanics the lens is in front of you.

Cleaning I did with a cotton swab and homemade 54 degrees brandy due to lack of distilled water. Still using mild soap and distilled water is safer for the lens itself. Then roll the wheel back and mechanics in the original position. Assembly is in the reverse order ...
