2003 2.0 hdi diesel

Can anyone recommend a good engine oil to me, I do 300-400 miles a week on clear motorway (avg speed 60-70 mph).

Also,

After what mileage would you recommend changing the oil again ?

I have a 2003 2.0 110 HDI, I use Mobil 1 turbo diesel oil (only £30 in Costco) and change it as per service indicator/handbook eg 12500 miles.

My car has now done more than 225,000 miles and is still going strong and on original turbo etc.

My wifes 307 hdi 90 has seen 190000 miles and still runs great with Miller fully synthetic 10w40 changed every 6000 miles.
What difference would the flywheel make to lubricating oil requirements Gibbo?.

its the dpf that needs low sap oil to stop it blocking. its normally only avaliable in 5w30 in mass production

I followed the handbook when I got my 2.0 110 it did not even mention low SAP's or C3 (maybe it was not generally available as I cannot remember seeing it at the motor factors 5 or 6 yrs ago).

Standard oil did not appear to affect my DPF as it lasted to 180K+ (with a quick flush and top up a about 90K).

I think the size of the DPF on 2.0 110 is quite a lot bigger than the DV6 1.6 etc so maybe they only factored in low SAP oil on the later models and made the DPF smaller as a result

Well off to Halfords I have been to get me some oil, there website says Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 0w/40 A3 B3,A3 B4.
Halfords | Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 0W/40 5 Litres

But the guy there said Castrol Magnatec 5w/30 C3 A3 B3/B4 is better.
Castrol Magnatec: the complete range of motor oils | Castrol Magnatec

I have know looked at the Castrol website and they suggest Castrol Edge 0w/40 A3/B4.
Halfords | Castrol Edge Sport 0W40 Oil 4 Litre

So could anyone say if this C3 Magnatec will be ok in my peugeot or one of the others please .

5/40 fully synthetic, changed every 6000ish miles.....I've done nearly 20,000 miles this year. £23 for Carlube and a filter ( Unipart ) from Andrew Page. very little oil between services. My car, before I got it,had a very hard life.

Spoke to Peugeot late yesterday to see what they say about the 3 oils I mentioned, he said good old 10/40 FS is best for old high mileage cars, and 5/30 FS for newish or lowish mileage cars.

Mines done 110,000 and he said that is lowish to him.

He did say that Castrol Magnatec was good, and they do a 5/30 C2 FS oil that meets there B71 2290.

Quick search last night and I found this site: Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 C2 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

So, think this is the one I will get......unless someone knows a reason why I shouldn't use it.
