Hello all

Please be patient with me as I am new to this site and this is my first thread

I am hoping someone can help me with my problem. I have a 307 2ltr hdi diesel on a 52 plate and I am wanting to change the rear discs and pads. However I am unsure whether the rear discs on my 307 have the bearings built in or not?

I have called Peugeot for a quote and they confirmed that they do not have the bearings built in, I then called ATS and Kwik fit and the likes and they have said that they quite possibly could have the bearings built in. Then I call various suppliers whom then confirm the same as Peugeot that my particular model has the discs with no bearing (Talk about confused). However I then take the car to ATS who then take the wheel off to look and they say that the discs on mine have the bearings complete in the disc as they cannot see a join to separate the discs from the bearing. I’m unsure of who is right or wrong as the difference is nearly twice as much if not more depending on which type of disc I need. I hope someone can please help me...

Danylar Welcome!

ive worked on a few 307 HDi and petrols and most of them have been non bearing discs, what you could do is jack up the car and remove the rear wheel and take a picture of the disc and post it up here where i could tell you

if your handy with cars then you can replace your own discs and pads as they all not that hard to do really 1-2 hours max should have them done :thumb:

I have taken wheel off and can see two torx screw fitments on the disc. However only 1 is in use (have read that this is fine as the wheel nuts do most of the work)

Previously when Mr ATS had removed the disc he even removed the remaining torx screw and other fittings and then tapped on the disc with rubber hammer to try and get it off which he couldn’t do. (maybe he was displaying his showmanship skills)

Anyhow Peugeot have said over the phone that it is defo the disc without bearing and have quoted £185 all in to replace them and the pads. Does this seem like a good price?

i would never trust ATS or Kwik fit most of them are monkeys!, i thought that yours would be the non bearing type, £185 is way to dear!!

i done mine last year front and rear discs cost me around £80 (inc new pads)getting my parts from a local motor store, you can get packages on ebay for good money few guys i know get them from ebay and never had any probs

if it was me i would replace all your discs and pads at the same time, also if you can do the job yourself even better! if not try and find a local garage to fit the parts for you they should be able to do it for around £40-60 :thumb:

Hi Guys. newbie to this site too.

All posts are very useful and interesting but I have another issue.

According to posts (and my Haynes manual) the rear discs on my 307HDi 110 should have 2 torx head screws holding them on, but mine hasn't!. Any clues to where the retaining screws would be if not in the front of the disc?

Thanks guys, this is what I was thinking.

Does anyone have any experience with getting these off? Do they just come off with a puller? I am confident to have a go but my manual doesn't show this.

They should come off the rear easy enough. Undo the 32mm hub nut and they will either slide off or need a bit of persuasion with a puller.

Its a simple job to replace the disk/bearing assembly. I wish all cars were that easy. Getting the piston back is a bit annoying if you don't have the proper tool. A bit of persistance with a pliers should work as it has to be turned back.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I have since been down the local industrial estate, where there is no traffic, and been able to bed the pads in properly. This seems to have solved the problem.

Next weeks job is drop links, hope that goes a little easier
