Mine did the same, but only after 9 years on a 206.

I think it's because Peugeot use a steel pressing on the radiator ends, but the fins are alloy, and the caps are plastic. Steel is the best material for the clamping of the plastic ends, but will rust first due to location and dissimilar metals causing the battery effect.
They could use stainless -but ads cost.

My advice - buy online and fit a replacement yourself - 10 mins.
Buy some new hoseclips too, or get the original spec spring clamps as they soon rust too.

Keep an eye on the bottom rail - and spray with a silicone grease if rust starts.
