I have what looks to be a significant issue with my wife's 807 2.2 tdi.
We had an emissions fault a while back that turned out to be the DPF, which We had it gutted and the ECU remapped, which resolved the problem.
Prior to the DPF issue there was a siren type sound on acceleration, which I have researched and have made an assumption that the turbo could be on the way out. After the DPF removal it seemed slightly more pronounced.
Yesterday, while my wife was driving the engine lost power, the emissions light came on and the engine kicked out a shit load of white smoke.
She stopped when she could, but drove it again back home, and the engine was under-performing but there was no smoke.
The breakdown recovery people came and identified a chain type rattling sound that went on after shutting off the engine. They took the car to a garage and when they started it they thought it was running on its own oil (over running after switch off).
it is currently with a Pug specialist to investigate.
Does anyone have an idea what this is, what damage could conceivably be and potential costs?
I am guessing turbo has gone, oil sucked into pistons etc causing overrun.
Now I guess a new turbo is £300 plus fitting, so maybe £500 all in. What other damage may have been done?
Pretty pissed off as its a 2006 full spec Executive model with FSH and lowish miles, but could o without a massive bill!!
thanks in advance :)

Well it's a £4k+ car in working order. Could maybe get £2k from we buy any car if they dont start it.
Any idea on what could be wrong and cost?

To be honest, apart from window switches, in our 6 years having it the only issue has been the DPF.
Any ideas on the issues I highlighted?

I'd give replacing the turbo a go, ask the garage to check the intercooler and intake pipework for debris. Have to say our 807 2.2 has been the most reliable car we have owned, now on 195K miles, original engine and turbo yet still pulls like a train, more frequent oil changes definately helps. Realistically you have not much choice as the equivalent sized engine in the Espace is a disaster.

The garage have quoted just over £1k to replace the turbo, remove sump etc, and clean out. Does this sound reasonable?
I had priced up a turbo at £300, so sounds a bit steep for labour...

hi there i take it you are not very good with the spanners as you can buy the turbo core on ebay from nerings for 160 quid and just swap over the outer housing's and refit turbo. it took me all day to remove refit and then find out dpf is blocked again but it only cost me 160 for turbo
