Hi All, Ok this one has me baffled! Please help ? so far We have done to the car, thermostat housing, thermostat, thermostat switch, oil & air filter, spark plugs, coil. My cars temp goes up to 90 and fan kicks in if idling, but won't go above 10 if I'm lucky if I'm driving it, water goes down in expansion tank, pipes warm, expansion tank warm, but won't return the water to near same level until I release top of expansion tank???? I have ruled out gasket as heater blows warm air.. Anyone have any ideas. oh and passenger carpet dry so also ruled out heater matrix, i just don't know where to go now with repair and is getting expensive lol x please any advice would be appreciated thanks

What exactly is the problem you're trying to fix? Is the car overheating? Or are you getting incorrect temperature readings?

Is the car diesel or petrol?

90 deg is a normal operating temperature, 100 is too hot. The fan kicks in when stationary at idle at 90 deg because there is almost no air flow cooling the engine. Unless it instantly shoots up to 90 when you turn the ignition on?

The expansion tank is pressurised when the engine is hot, so you may need to wait for the pressure to drop to get an accurate coolant level reading.
