Please save my sanity (ant-theft and additive issues)

Hi, new user here and I don't own a Peugeot, however my mother does.

She has a 307 SW 2.0 diesel and it failed the MOT on a dash light being on, it was to do with the additive/de-pollution tank, I filled it up and hooked up to the ODB to reset it, but I couldn't communicate with the ECU, after a lot of guess work and a thread from these forums it turned out it was just a bloody mucky fuse! (I also cleaned all the others while I was at it, and some connectors cleaned/reseated)

So I got it through the MOT but occasionally it wouldn't start first time, I put it down to the battery as the car had been stood a few months (pulled it and fully charged it), and then it got a dash warning, 'Electronic anti-theft faulty' :( So it looks like in fixing one thing I've upset another.

It won't start on first turn, but will if tried again, but is acting up a little more now, does anyone have an idea for me as she can't afford a 'specialist' to diagnose for her atm (pensioner).

Any help no matter how insignificant it may seem will be much appreciated!

Oh yeah, the additive issue came back too :D

Do a BSI reset then check all the earths on the car and that your fuses are fully seated as it sounds like comms unit is not powering up correctly.

Hi, what would a BSI* reset be? I have been through and cleaned all the fuses, that's what originally fixed the additive fault.

I did notice in another thread a bing sound on ignition could point to a dodgy battery, and it is doing that, but the battery isn't that old and was fine until this.

BSI Reboot Procedure

1. Put the driver’s window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.
2. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.
3. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 30 seconds.
4. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.)
5. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
6. Switch on the ignition and check system’s functionality.
7. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
8. Remove key open & close door test central locking system
9. Start the engine and complete the system’s check.

That description sounds like a bad earth OR a bad battery you just need to be methodical there is no 1 connection to check you need to check everything.

My son was using my espace last week said it kept doing similar flashing the immobiliser light and not starting but it had never done it with me till this morning it was just a bad connection on a relay not switching the power on properly.

Well I've check the battery and both the voltages are correct, 12.xx & 14.xx so that rules that out (I even added jump leads from another known good battery), I did give the terminals a quick clean but still no joy, the only earth wire I noticed was under the fuse box cover and seems fine too.

It only seemed to fail after I went through box fuse boxes and connectors around them.

Funny thing is fiddling again has fixed the sodding additive :D

No dash lights are lit that shouldn't be, just the flash up comment on the display momentarily, I feel an auto electrician may be on the cards, but trying to avoid that cost for her....
