Hi, I bought a 308 in early January, noticed the oil dropped quick so topped it up, started to notice after the engine had been idling then I pulled off I'd get (sometimes a very big) cloud of blue smoke out the back. I've taken it into a garage today who have advised its Piston Rings &/or Valve Stems Seals and it's probably best to do both. Quoted £1,500 to rebuild the engine that's in it or £1,000 to put in a reconditioned engine.

I've called the dealer I bought it from to either arrange them repairing it, replacing or refunding me as I've had it less than 3 months. They've said they'll call me tomorrow before 11 but just wondering what my chances are from your experience or what the best option to do is?

Appreciate your advice

James

Take the car back with a letter with your reason for rejecting the car & a refund. A decent mechanic could get the car shipshape but you would be in the hands of the dealer with respect to the quality of the work.
My fear is they will claim the car is repaired but all they have done is put a can of magic engine restorer in the sump which will likely to be only be a short term cure.
