my electric pump has gone and it is very difficult to find one in Sri Lanka.
Check Out Ebay and go for some international Postage May take some emails & maybe a call to prove your genuine & a bit pricey but at least the Steering will work better :thumb:

Not tried it myself but would guess you would need to drain all the fluid also as it would probably work against you with no pump.
The mk4 escorts never has power steering except rare mobility ones and boy you could tell!
I suppose it would be relatively useable until manoeuvring, but that is assuming the rack works without the pump and fluid but personally I'd try and fix it, is there any mot or laws involved?

You could possibly hang a hydraulic pump- off an older application of the same engine perhaps- on it, get custom hoses made up at a plant repair shop, and hope that the pressure is a match for what the rack expects.

No idea what you'd have to do to defeat any fault codes that would appear tho...

Thank you all for your replies.

I was thinking to get a pump off a 206 and make a braket and use. It that possible?

I tried ebay and the shipping chargers are like 80 pounds to ship it here.

Also i had another problem. When i swithced on the lights, air con the car seemed fine but as soon as i switched on the stereo it says battery charging fault. I switch off the stereo and in a few seconds it goes off. This was proir to the pump failing. Could it be a faulty alternator?
