I have an issue with the fuel reading on my wife’s Peugeot 307.

The fuel level shows as just above empty and the light is on. Problem is she just topped up with about 20 litres of petrol. After topping up the fuel gauge remained the same as before and never moved.

This did happen once before but exposing the lop of the fuel sender unit under the back seat and giving it a knock sorted the problem.
This time a knock didn't sort the problem. I removed the entire sender unit and found No obvious problems with it. I put it back and the fuel gauge still remained the same.

I did notice when studying the sender unit that on the sensor board attached to the float there is some discolouring (See attachment). I was wondering if this is normal. If not is it possible to buy just this little part as I see it’s detachable?
