Ok my 307 has electric mirrors but they only fold manually. I figured out you need a different window switch for this function but is that all it is. Will I be able to turn this feature on in planet without having to change the mirror itself or run an extra cable from mirror to switch.

Would fire up planet now to see but my cars in for a new clutch...

Pics...

As you can see the difference is that little white arrow, you slide it down and the mirrors should fold. I have also got the switch that has rear windows control so hope to get electric windows in the back at some stage...

Hi
You have to change the mirrors and also the window motors, you can't just turn this feature on in Planet

The power folding mirrors have 2 plugs, standard mirrors have one plug :thumb:

yeah you will need the extra motors to get the mirrors to fold....option is called powerfold for reference. you could retrofit in theory but would cost more than sense...

will need:

-the switches
-the cables
-the mirrors with motors (costly bit)
-the ecu programming

Anyone know what cables are required? I have access to a scrapper xsi with power folds for good money. What will I actually need to take out? I realise the obvious; Mirrors, switch pack, but what wiring do I need?
Thanks!

Did you ever get it fitted. Looking into it as I can get auto wipers and auto lights and folding mirrors off of the 307 in local scrappy.

It depends on the wiring loom already fitted in the car. Some cars have the full wiring loom even though they don't have all the options like Auto wipers / lights, Alarm, powerfold mirrors, rear electric windows, front foglights & parking sensors.

Some have managed to retrofit some of these options because the loom had the necessary connections just tucked away behind the trims but my car has what appears to be the poor mans loom in that none of the required connectors are there.

I'm guessing that as my luck would have it I have the hobo loom (if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any). If by some god dam miracle that when I remove the existing mirror "there is 2 cables, is it as simple as putting on new mirrors and new interior mirror/window panel and possibly a fuse? Scrappy is running the car at the moment so as soon as tax is run out ill have access to strip. Not even going to proceed if I don't have all the plugs.

From what I have seen you do not need the switch as all the switches have the fold function built in its just the top half and button that changes I fitted a non powerfold switch to my 407 and the powerfold works.

You will need the window motors as stated above sounds silly I know but the powerfold cables plug into them !!

When you say window motors, are you referring to the electric front windows. I hope that this is the case because i have them already and I can now guess that to activate these folding mirrors you have to hold down the lock button on the remote; in exactly the same manner as you do to shut the windows from the key while out of the car.

You need to fit the electric window motors from a powerfold equipped car as the control unit in the motor controls the mirrors !!
Ah we'll shouldn't be too much hassle think the donor car has rear electric windows so may have to upgrade that at same time mirrors sound like a ball ache but if the loom is right might give it a shot.

Cheers

Without the correct switch pack you cant manually fold/unfold the mirrors (done by pulling the mirror selector switch down)

Is there any documentation on this system because mine is playing up. The passenger side doesn't work at all and the drivers side works when it wants to. It folds on the switch most times but totally random when I lock the car with the button.

I don't even know how the plastic backs of the mirrors come off (assuming they do?)

Wonder if there is some type of hidden reset like the press and hold method for the windows?

Yes correct but ALL the switches I have seen have the capability to fold the mirrors even if the slot is not cut in the top cover section to allow the function to work I looked today I have 4 switches from various cars and all can fold mirrors if the top section is correct so all that you need to do is mod the original.

Bugger me I just looked in my old one and yeah you are absolutely right!

Always did wonder what that extra contact was for on the board! Never put 2 and 2 together that the mirror selector arm was above it!

Hats off to you sir :thumb:

Edit, looks like all that stops this is a tiny plastic arm on the underside of the switch top cover, learn something every day!

Edit 2, i'm not entirely sure if you can separate the switch top from the mechanism without destroying it, so if any of you try...don't blame me! :D

you can use the mirror, but not the motoreducer since CAN and VAN is different story.
