It may well be opening the doors BUT it will not disable the immobiliser. You probably have a fob that is worn where the buttons are which may be operating the switch or simply a faulty switch. If the door isn't opened within around 30 seconds the doors will automatically lock again. The key needs to be in very close proximity to the ignition barrel to disable the immobiliser. The immobilser is simply the BSI locking the ecu until a valid key is present. It works via a chip in the key and is totally seperate to the remote locking.

You can get repair kits from ebay or if you are not comfortable doing the repairs yourself our own member trustme is a qualified vehicle locksmith who will be able to sort things out for you.

As above the key remote section is just a convenience for unlocking doors
The immobiliser is a separate part of the key and needs the key in the barrel to function

Switches in the key are probably loose on the board and moving around shorting the unlock buttons.

thanks for replies,

Is it normal for the doors to open from 100 yards, frequently when i may have just pressed on the fob, sat on keys, also I will have to get it fixed as it invalidates my car insurance, plus opportunist thiefs, etc.
