Hi everyone,
So I'm currently in a battle with Peugeot to accept responsibility. Basically I've read on multiple forums and Facebook groups that the DV5R 1.5 engine from 2017-2023 has the old 7mm cam chain set up but Peugeot have recently put a recall out for them to install a new 8mm cam chain set up.
Baring in mind my cars a Peugeot 208 2022 with 40,600 miles on the clock.
I have been back and forth with Peugeot and Evans Halshaw and both of them admit that my car has the 7mm cam chain set up but my VIN/REG isn't on the recall list, but why?
They said because my vin isn't on the recall list that if I were to get it done it would be at my own cost. Which I find surreal as it's clearly a defect from factory which has been proven.
What happens if suddenly my cam chain snaps, who is at fault, who accepts liability? What route do I take now basically? I've had the car 3 weeks..
Upon cold start my car does actually have a slight rattle so I'm very concerned.
I will attach a picture of Peugeot admitting I have the 7mm setup.
I'm honestly at a loose end now, not sure what to do next as no-one seems to be taking me serious and basically getting told to f*ck off.
Here are just some of the articles I've found -
