there should be a 207 forum on here! PEUGEOTS BACK :)

The Peugeot 207 has become Europe's top-selling car after a strong performance in April.

Acccording to industry analyst JATO Dynamics, 152,638 examples have been sold so far this year. That's almost exactly 4000 fewer than was the case with the Renault Clio at the same point in 2006, but Clio sales have fallen by 7.3% since then.

This isn't a Renault-specific issue. The European market is slacker than it was last year, and all the other models in the top six - Volkswagen Golf, Fiat Punto, Ford Focus and Vauxhall/Opel Astra - are also selling more slowly than before.

The top manufacturer in 2007 is still Volkswagen, with 531,246 units sold so far. Next up are Renault, Vauxhall/Opel, Ford, Peugeot and Fiat, and of these only Ford and Fiat have seen improvements on their overall sales since 2006.

Germany is the strongest market in Europe, despite a recent slump in its new car sales. Italy is second, France is just ahead of the UK in third, and at number 5 comes Spain.
