Hello,

I currently have a 2009 1.4 Petrol Peugeot 207 S VTI 5Dr Hatchback with 60k miles and have had a few problems spring up over the last few days.

  1. When starting the car you get an oil light and notification saying "check oil level" I have checked it a few times and everything it is fine when checking the dip stick
  2. Occasionally I am getting an "oil pressure" warning with the STOP light however it is only there for a second then goes away again this only happens occasionally and not constant
  3. When the engine is running and car is idle the revs are going up and down and you can hear the sound engine also reflecting this. During this time the lights inside and outside of the car are also dimming and going brighter
  4. When accelerating there is sometimes a lack of power
Does anyone have any idea what could potentially be wrong?

Cheers,
David

This sounds like a problem with the alternator. Probably the voltage regulator but it may just be the brushes - don't leave it, it may fail completely and leave you stranded.
