not sure i can hear anything as this engine always makes a whine sound, have you listened to another?
also did you check cam timing with cover off, use a torch and mirror to locate the crank hole and check camshaft flats are in the up position
a lazy solenoid valve will cause coherence faults but will throw a code eventually, got through 3 on our last car under 80k

one of the valves i had would stick from time to time and give some very strange noises from the engine, but that was under load and eventually throw a code, doubt they would need to work on tickover
