Hi,
Thank you in advance for any advice. I recently drove my 2016 - peugeot 2008 (32000miles) petrol automatic (1.2) on the motorway and ended up calling the AA after the car started juddering badly about 12 miles in to the journey. In this instance, it seemed to oddly be when I took my foot off the accelerator. It was enough to make me panic and pull over in case I was doing damage to the car. No engine light came on but the car was collected, taken home and drove ok when it was back. AA report below:
(Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control 1 - 9E4 / Valeo VD46 Status
3061 - Knock sensor signal. Error Message : Unknown fault type. Error sporadic. No signs of misfuel, Vehicle running normally, no engine management warning light on, No misfire. Unable to replicate fault described.)
For context - i had just filled up with petrol and the car has only done 2000 miles in the previous 2 years as it wasn't used in the main pandemic period.
Since then, it seems to be getting worse. If I try to get up to speed, the car starts juddering episodes again (though will stop eventually) and the car feels sluggish and unresponsive at times (as though the break is slightly on sometimes - which it isn't). No engine light has ever come on and garage diagnostics find the p3061 code only.
My concern is that I am being given mixed advice on what to do and wondered if anyone on here has had anything similar. I've been told to take it to an electrical specialist but am trying to avoid paying out for a variety of tests and repairs if they are not going to be relevant.
The car is serviced - only had a minor service at peugeot 3 weeks ago. New belt fitted 2 weeks ago. Problems were there before this however.
Any advice or ideas welcome. I love the car and am loathe to get rid of it as a replacement will be expensive in today's market.
Thank you.
