Hi Mike, I seem to have the same problem. Both warning lights on and code P20E8. I had the recall for the new cap done a couple of months ago but obviously not soon enough. Really Pxxxd off as car has only done 11000 miles (2014 2.0 Bluehdi Allure). Please let us know how you get on and also if you find a cheap source for the new tank/pump.

Search for the right part number

Hi Stubbo,

Thanks for the picture. Isn't the "PEF additive reservoir" a sort of Franglais translation with means the AdBlue tank ??

I think this is the part we need.

I called Peugeot West London parts for a confirmation price of the latest version of the AdBlue tank and they told me ÂŁ308.82 + VAT but refused to give me the part number ! It is their "policy" !!

So now I am confused about the ÂŁ950 price the service department at Robins and Day Guildford quoted me.

Any further information anyone has on this would be very helpful in trying to source the right part.

Spoke to another Peugeot dealer in West Heath who was much more helpful.

He still will not give me the part number(s) required, explaining that if he sources the wrong parts then that is down to him. Whereas if I ask for a part by its number then the problem would be down to me. Peugeot closing ranks, I feel.

2 parts are required. (a) the replacement new version urea tank, and (b) a new heat shield to match the new style tank. The total cost of the 2 parts is ÂŁ965 including VAT. The fitting cost is ÂŁ105 including an update of the car's ECU for the new part.

I also asked about the Peugeot West London's part price quoted to me of ÂŁ308.82 + VAT. He thinks they gave me the wrong part....probably the Eolys tank, which apparently the 308 has as well. So, Stubbo, you are probably right and part 1610115580 is the wrong tank after all.

OMG !!

Where to now? Can there be any alternative to a Peugeot dealer ?

I still have a nagging doubt about this fault. I'm not saying that this doesn't occur but does Planet actually diagnose the pump (in tank) as being the problem? Has anyone had a tank off and tried to repair the pump? What about sensors? I read somewhere that the pump pressure is checked 30 seconds after switching the ignition on and if inadequate it brings up an alarm. There must be a sensor at the filter end where the fluid is injected. So many faults seem to be caused by faulty sensors these days it could be an expensive mistake to replace the whole tank only to find a sensor was the actual fault.
Take a look at these two sites. You will need Google to translate them for you.

Impianto AdBlue Su Vetture PSA: Test Pompa e Tubazioni

Mike,

Have you got a servicebox login at all?

You can type in your VIN and it will show the exact parts the car has, and also list original and replacement part numbers, which you and peugeot could confirm between yourselves

You can search with generic info but as you can see it brings back a lot of stuff!

And yeah PEF tank is used for Eolys, peugeot list the adblue tank as the Urea Tank

Hi Jonsy,

Thanks for the German and Italian reading material !

The key part of the Italian test is:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

AdBlue Plant, Fault Code P20E8: What to Do

"The fault code indicates that the line pressure of the urea which is pumped from the tank to the injector does not reach the preset value, which for these cars is between 5 and 6.5 bar when the engine is running.

This could result from one or more of the following three factors:

Poor efficiency from the pump
Pressure line cracking
Poor seal of the injector

The first of the aforementioned points would involve the replacement of the integrated pump / control unit, while the other two would involve replacing the pipe or the injector, operations that are less burdensome in every respect.

Self-diagnosis, by means of the function, comes to the rescue to discriminate the cause of the fault

The execution of this function requires that the urea tubing be disconnected from the injector and be discharged into a graduated container.

50 ± 10 ml of liquid must be collected over a period of approximately four minutes.

Once the procedure is complete, or after four minutes have elapsed since it was started, it is sufficient to check that 50 ± 10 ml of liquid have been delivered.

A smaller quantity would mean an inability of the pump to deliver the right amount of reducing agent, or damage to the feed pipe.

If, on the other hand, this test proves to have a correct flow rate, then, by exclusion, it would be necessary to check / replace the urea injector."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder how much the Urea injector costs in comparison to the Urea tank and pump combo

I'll have a look now but i'd remove your VIN from public view if i were you! :thumb:

Edit: Here you go, the RP numbers are the replacement part numbers (ie part has been modified since original)

Disclaimer for myself, confirm with peugeot before ordering anything!!

Looks like heat shield hasn't changed tbh

there is always an alternative to Peugeot dealer !
many online part shops will be happy to provide you the actual part number. if I remember correctly the tank volume is 17 litters (you can ask the dealer the size of tank and understand from that its capacity and what they are selling you). it ain't a small tank.

if you give them your VIN (usually last 6 digits of the VIN is sufficient)
anyhow: it is not the PEF additive reservoir tank. that's a 2L small tank which contains a brown slime you need to replace every 50000.

and Mike : you don't need to buy the heat shield: they are ripping you off.
you already got one on your old tank !
just two simple screws to de-attach heat shield.

if you still can't find a local supplier for the tank I can give you an email of a reliable European shop, however, I prefer you find someone on your own.

Thanks Save2....Stubbo has indicated that the part number for the complete Urea reservoir is 98 185 593 80 which does seem to check out.

As you say, there are some out there from the continental breakers for ÂŁ400 - ÂŁ500.

Decision time a-coming !

Just remember to double confirm with a decent peugeot dealership (Gateway crewe are good btw :thumb:) before you buy, its a lot of money to get something wrong!

From other continent it will be still ÂŁ750+
and yes you finally! found the correct part number: (9818559380)
here is a pic from a random turkish website: (its 530 EUR but don't order from them. I dont trust them)

its not a small package and you are not wrong. you can go to your local mechanic to take a look at your current tank before you order and compare (he can disconnect the tank and look at the top of it. 15 min work)

you will also notice the new Adblue tank arrives with ! the upgraded cap (with black pressure valve in the middle)
while the old tank doesn't.
don't forget to take the old heat shield...

My blue cap doesn't look like that and it has no black bit it is all blue.
Numbers are hard to read on it but here goes.
98036544480
12680301
PP-GF 30

If wrong should dealer have changed it FOC
