207CC 1.6 VTI 2009 (red if it helps). OBD2 scanner off eBay with Torque Pro on my phone.
The oil dipstick on this car is dog crap.
A while back I accidentally (see above) had too much oil in the car and it blew the valve cover gasket on a long journey, so now I'm wary of oil levels. At no point am I getting a low oil warning on the dashboard, but I notice the ride seems much smoother after I put a bit more oil in every so often. It's guesswork though!
I'm just scared to death of putting too much oil in and the valve rocker cover gasket blowing again, 100+KM from home. I'm also now very scared of putting in too little, especially on this next trip.
Last time, I replaced the gasket, I replaced the radiator too (different story, but on that note, fuck you John Hughes).
I'm mid 50s and have owned many cars from many marques and never had any trouble reading an oil dipstick until this beautiful bastard came along.
I need to make the same 6 hour trip next week. It's important to me, so it sucks that I'm now getting this error code.
Will removing, cleaning, and re-fitting the sensors be enough or do I need to replace them? Can I use brake cleaner spray or WD40? Do I need to replace the camshaft?
Right now I'm starting the car in the morning for the daily commute, it runs rough, so I turn it off and restart, two or three times, until it runs smooth enough to drive.
Is there an aftermarket dipstick that isn't useless?
This is an important trip to me and I will be very grateful for any help. Can post VIN if required.
