Hi

today i got problem with my auto-box as its stop change gear its feel like it stuck at 1 .. i changed it to manual mode also i cant pass it to 2 gear ..

all it happen after long travelling with the car and AC was on all the way the geo here is mostly mountains so i was claim up and go down . with average 50 km speed

i used manual change for couple time . after hour and half its start to stuck at the first gear and wont change and suddenly its changed and i feel like someone hit the car from the back. the temp sensor give me between 85-110 C

So i stopped the car and i eat something to make the car rest for bit because i think its over heated i mean the gearbox after 30 min all goes to normal and no problem happen

Note : no error comes in dashboard

i searched about this kind of problem in google and i found couple post says because the gearbox over heat and this is could be to low gearbox oil level also i found i should not change the oil of gearbox .

i need your help about my problem is this because of oil or gearbox ??

and if oil problem what oil i should use .."we don't have total oil we have castrol oil " my car is 307 1.6 petrol 2007 auto

Regardless of the information that the gearbox is sealed for life and doesn't need topping up, the oil in the box will start to degrade. The oil in the gearbox is subjected to a lot of pressure and will start to loose it's ability to protect the box. I'd get it changed and the magnetic filter cleaned before anything else.

The box has worked fine up till now with the software already installed so it's unlikely to be software related. Replacing the engine oil and filters will be beneficial to the engine but won't have any effect on the gearbox changing. You should be able to find a suitable Castrol oil for the gearbox - just make sure it is the correct specification.

Hi

today i been looking for oil for gearbox and i found this in the castrol database
the one i should use is

TRANSAXLE, AUTOMATIC TIPTRONIC 4/1
Use: Normal (Check 60000 km / 48 months)
TRANSMAX Z 70W-80

is this correct .. Peugeot service didnt reply to me yet

one more thing is hard to change the oil of gear box . i read over the internet thats people have problem with finding the fill up plug .. where its location the one for drain and the other for fill up and where the location of magnetic filter

today i changed the gearbox oil but not totally

the mechanic says its should not change the all oil at once we should do it in 3 steps or something and if we change it at once its could damage the gearbox !!! how ?? i dont know !!!

he also says there is no magnetic filter in this gearbox

so he drain 3 kg of oil and he says the gearbox should have 4 kg so he add another 1 kg of oil called DEX III electric "yellow"

so he add 2 kg of old plus 2 kg of new and he told me i should comeback after 3 month for change another 2 kg till the oil become more clear and less dirty

by the way the oil was dirty with bad smell . the gearbox i think become a little smother than before but i didnt test it that much so i will update later with results

there are about 9 liters of oil in the gearbox, but there can only be emptied about 3 liters out.

Dexron (Dex3) oil are banned in the gearbox because it clogs the filter = death gearbox

I assume that it is a 4 speed gearbox

Now that the oil smells burnt, then it is better that you get flush of the gearbox

First thank you for reply
Today the peugeot service called peugeot service in isreal which i have no access to them but they called me because i send email to mother company asking about oil and how to change it
. The problem is i forget to ask the guy who talked to me about oil type.
He gave me steps how to change gear box
Also he says dirty oil is good as help gearbox pressure. And he advise me to keep it as its but i cant do that since first i change it plus its could break my gearbox

About oil what i should use instead of dex3. Is it ok to change the gearbox oil at once

Can i mix new oil with the old one?

Thabk you in advance and i waiting your response
