Just been Reading about silicone on the engine ECU... a few silly question.

is this good or bad?
can it be cleaned off?
is it safe to do so?

I read it might be the cause of my problem... (well to the car not me)

silicone is used as a sealant and does not normally conduct electricty. I use it on circuit boards all the time. What is the problem you are having?

silicone sprays (used in valeting and light lubrication) can contaminate and degrade MAF sensors. Not sure what you think it would do to an ECU, it's used to encapsulate, as bongo says.
