For some time now the insufficeint oil pressure warning comes on in my 5 year old pug petrol 1.4 307s. Its ok when engine is cold but as soon as it gets warm it comes on only when idling so at junctions i keep the revs at 850 and its ok anybody got any ideas.
Possibly slight head failure. Any loss of fluids? Cross contamination of fluids. Could be a clogged oil filter or knackerd pump. Try changin oil filter and remove oil sump clean that out and check pump while at it see if that helps
Before resorting to sump- off, drain oil, fit a quality oil filter (yes they do make a difference), and fill with a mediun-good grade Semi or Full synthetic oil with a higher lower viscosity rating. .
E,g. if your spec is 5-40 to 15-40, then choose 10-40 or 15-40.
With higher wear you really need a thicker oil to compensate - up to the limits recommended.
You tend to get oil pressure warnings with worn-out, cheap and thin oils.
