Does the motor have an oil pump? Perhaps it needs a flush as some of the internal oil ways are blocked not allowing sufficient pressure to build? It is filled with the correct amount and grade of oil?

It does have an oil pump and I have put in 5w 30 I asked my mechanic and at the motor factor,s about what oil to put in. How would you go about flushing an engine? Thank,s hth

 

No worries. Not sure of the oil grade, but I would take the info from the handbook and get the relevant PSA grading.

Re oil pump. Not sure how one checks its working properly. Maybe another forum member or your mechanic might know. But if it is not doing what it should, then maybe it needs replacing?

 

My mechanic was saying that there,s oil getting to the head because there was oil coming out of the air intake so we had changed the seal,s on the air intake and rocker cover. So we are stumped at what the cause is. I,all try the engine flush and if that doesn't work it most be the oil pump that,s st fault. Thank,s lad

 

Sounds like you've spent a lot of time trying to fix the issue.

I'm not sure how you test an oil pump is working properly. Not something I've ever done. Perhaps remove the pressure sensor and do a compresion type test. Anyway, I typed the Q into Youtube and found this. Might answer the question.

I had a question. I got the engine flush this morning just wondering do you drain a few litters of oil out or just add the flush straight in?

 

I would follow the instructions from the manufacturer of the product you've bought to be safe.

Just finished the flush. Taken it for a spin drove grand I think that might have sorted it. We,ll see how it goes in the morning heading for work. Thank,s for your help.

If it has helped, you could always treat the motor to another flush, and new oil and filter soon as. I reckon that all these long service schedules are no good for internals of an engine. Might be good for the bank balance of fleet managers, but to those of us running them a few years later, not ideal.

 

I couldn't afford a brand new van. this thing owes me nothing I bought it for 2 grand 3 years ago. It only started acting up in the last 2 months after I had tested and taxed it for the year. I'll give it a few day,s and see how I get. Thank,s wilf

 

I'm afraid that didn't work.we tested for oil pressure and theres good pressure so we are stumped

 

Is the oil pressure message appearing after the engine stalls?

 

Changed diesel filter and pressurised system.


It does and the dash light,s up like a xmas tree.it won't start up when rolling but when you stop for a few seconds it will start up again

 

HI...just to add...if the above post is correct..you could be looking at a fuel problem...filter/air leak..?

 

To me it sounds like the oil pressure fault is a consequence of the engine stalling while in motion...

I have exactly the same problem, 1.6 HDI 2008 103k miles....suddenly started happening a few days ago. It will run OK until you accelerate then around 40mph it will just cut out. It will start again and it will rev freely while at a standstill. I've changed fuel filter but that hasn't fixed it. Ive booked it in on Tuesday with the local garage who service it so I'll let you know what transpires.

 

Update - Got the van back, turns out it was the EGR valve and the injector harness. Sadly the EGR valve isn't a cheap fix. Anyway it seems to have fixed the problem, hasn't cut out since and all warning lights have stayed off! Hope this helps....
