Hi Guys

My elderly neighbour has a 405 GLX Nreg, and he says that oil is being pumped up via the dipstick. Apparently the car runs fine, but he's trying to make some device to recycle the lost oil:eek:

Can anyone shed some light on this problem before my old pal buggers his motor right up?

Cheers:)

Thanks Chopper! :thumb:

Whereabouts are the breathers located, and will it be an easy job to remedy?

It depends on which engine, but in general terms there's likely to be one coming off the cam carrier which is piped to either the airbox and/or the inlet tract, and one coming off the crankcase going to a similar destination.

It's a mucky case of strippng them off and cleaning them, and cleaning any filters they might also have. Cleaning the pipes should be easy but the filters might be clagged beyond redemption.

It needs doing pronto, because if this is the cause the higher crankcase pressure can damage camshaft seals etc.

Chopper you're a Star :)

Will let him know, and let you know what happens.

The way he's going at it, the motor looks like it could turn into chitty chitty bang bang quite easily

Cheers mate :thumb: :thumb:
