Evening all,

I've got a 1.6 Petrol 150THP 308, which I check, and accordingly top up, my oil level as frequently as necessary to keep it ticking over.

However, today when checking, I've noticed the oil seems really runny on the dipstick? Far runnier that usual!

I've also noticed the coolant is a lot darker than usual, but no white deposits.

I checked the oil when cold, on a level surface, as I usually do, and it's jet black in color!

Any ideas as to what could be up are greatly appreciated.

Hello

Is the car running normal? If so I would suggest filter/oil/sensors change, and the coolant/sensors too!

Regards
Hi there,

Thank you for the advice. Car runs perfect! I'm going to order the bits and get onto this, as the oil doesn't look good at all.

When you say sensors, is it just the coolant one?

Cheers

Hello, car runs perfect, then just do oil/filter/coolant change and see how that goes for now but you only need to change the sensors if they're old, and/or if engine is 'running/sounds' poor!

Looks like it's just the one coolant temp sensor on the 308 priced around £25 easy to replace, but only if needed really!

Regards
