I have a 2003 Peugeot 307 SW. The brakes have been squeaking recently under braking and I knew that the pads were low. The other day on a motorway run it started doing a high pitched squealing - similar in sound to when brake pads are fitted with those audible warning clips. I immediately dived in and changed the front pads but the noise is still happening. It immediately goes away when I put any load on the steering wheel one way or the other, wobble the steering wheel from side to side, or press the brake or pull up the handbrake slightly while moving. There is plenty of pad left on the rear brakes. Peugeot main dealer over the phone said it sounds like a wheel bearing but I thought they were normally a grumbling sound, plus I can't find any bearing play when wobbling the front wheel. Any ideas?
