Cleaned the boost solenoid last week and have cured the boost cutout and the boost control position fault error code.

However the engine fan is now running on and today the battery went flat. Would the boost problem have inhibited the dpf regen ? So that now its trying to regen very often. Funny thing is , it did it after just idling on the drive ( I thought it needed to go above 40).

Will the ecu run the fan on for any other reason?

One other thing the fan variable speed bit has failed so the 206 fan in it runs at full speed off the relay.

Also is there a test procedure for the solenoid, I think the other two a stuck too.

What do diagnostics say?
No faults showing.

Wondering how the car had suddenly decided to run the fan longer after stopping after working on the boost control solenoid. probably not been able to do a regen for a while.

With the original fault, you could stop it happening by keeping the revs below about 2.5k, would this also inhibit a regen.

I don't have pp to do any in depth diagnostics.

Oops, also should have said its a 407 hdi 136

The fan failed about a year ago, and I fitted a 206 fan as its the same size but it runs at full speed when the fan relay is energised.

For the last 12 months it switched off after about 10s of stopping the engine.

But now, after fiddling with the boost control valve, it often runs on, today it ran for 20 minutes.

I am wondering if the relay is sticking, but it seems strange that it started the day I cleaned the solenoid (but at least I have stopped the boost tripping out)

Does the fan run on on a timer if dpf regen is interrupted or is on temperature ?
