Hi Oh font of all knowledge :)

My wife's 307 SW has a rattly rear door (estate door). I changed the weather strip thinking that might fix it but no. Still it was falling apart anyway.
However she then mentioned seeing a bit of plastic spring off the U shaped metal that the lock engages with. Sure enough when I wrapped some gaffer tape around it the noise has gone.

Ok so my question is, what is that U shaped bit of metal attached to a plate called? I'm going to see if I can source one from the scrapyard but if I have to buy a new one I'm stuck because I don't know its name. I've tried striker plate and door catch to no avail.

Striker plate or catch is probably what i would call it

Searching on ebay with striker plate etc is not going to get you much though as it would need the person listing it to call it exactly that !

Other problem is i doubt many people would even bother removing it and listing it as it would rarely sell.

I certainly would not list 1 as i would probably loose it before it sold !

My hatch door also rattles and I have not been able to cure it. I will try your cure of tape around the striker plate and see if it works for me.

I hope so because it is bloody annoying. It's off to the scrapyard for me in the nex weekend or so to find a replacement. The hardest bit is aligning the striker to get the catch to work smoothly.
