Well she has been back in the garage for the last 2 weeks, give or take.
Called the diagnostic centre today and after comprehensive tests they have tracked it down to the MAP sensor not reading enough vacuum in the manifold.
All electrics are 100% ok but it's lack of vacuum causing my issues! So she is back with garage to check valve pressures etc
Personally it's all out of my realm of knowledge; is this a terminal thing? What could cause it?
They reckon it should be 20% vacuum and it's reading 15% or something?
Anyone care to share thoughts and possible causes in laymans terms? Just so i learn something ;)

addendum:
called garage today they reckon they have found that the timing belt is off by two or three teeth. service history says timing belt was changed at 76000; so it would appear that the company that did that didnt do a very good job. something about one of the pulleys being able to free-turn and therefore you need the proper tool to align it all....
anyway the garage is fixing it now and hopefully test driving later for me to pick up tommorrow all going well...
sound reasonable?

well another wasted trip!
picked her up...drove her about 12 miles and BAM! deppolution error!!
to be fair she is idling better and seems far more responsive now the timing belt has been done; next stage according to the garage is to possibly change the CAT. which even my limited understanding can make sense of because of the unburnt fuel going through it if its been out of tune etc....
nice thing is this time they are coming out to me to check and test diagnostics...

in all honesty the car seems a nightmare; but the garage seem to be genuinely going above and beyond to resolve the issue.

error code is 0402 this time round: excessive exhaust gas regulation?
garage is now driving it all the way back to their place to see if they can repeat the error code on the return trip and diagnose further

to be fair they have done all the work with little complaint, increased the warranty for another month and all that...but where do you draw the line?
