Only had the car a couple of months, had to replace all the discs which i knew when i bought, next week it wouldn't start, RAC diagnosed Cam shaft or Crank shaft sensor problem so I replaced them both. Car still would not start, forced to piut it into independant Peugeot specialist in Poole. They diagnosed problem as coroded wiring, a stuck relay and a battery that was only delivering 28Amps. Presented me with huge bill but atleast the car was going and I could now get on with a busy family life.
Sadly today on my 15 mile journey home the car suddenly lost all power and "DE POLUTION FAULT" displayed, and engine light came on. Gave the car a little throttle and it picked up again and i got home. While idling outside the "EPS warning" came on briefly then went off. So I plugged in my cheap code reader and got P00087 (fuel rail low pressure) message.
Took it out for a boot down our local dual carriageway and all seems ok but a little powerless and once i slowed down and got onto the minor roads it lost alll power again briefly.
Desperately need alll your kind help as after my last garage bill I am now broke.
check the wires under the fuel filter at the front of the engine if there is a yellow connector there cut it out and put some crimps on it also check the rest of the wires down there because sometimes diesel spilt from the filter corrodes the wires
This problem was on the old dw10 engine not the new dw10. The fault would be a fuel pressure sensor signal short to earth or positive if there was a wire broke.
P0087 can be a blocked fuel filter, dodgy diesel, ecu problem, running the car low on fuel. Take your pick.
Ok, so I thought I would start with the fuel filter, not a great start as its on so tight I can not budge it. So garage across the road form my work said they will fit it for £20, so that will happen tomorrow, assuming my car makes it.
The car has now donbe 70,000 miles and I do not know if it has a lift pump in the tank.
I had been using Tesco diesel but had now changed to BP as i read that this supermarket petrol can cause problems , I kind of thought all diesel was the same after all Tesco don't fefine their own do they?
The potential ECU problem mentioned scares me as that sounds expensive.
Is there anyhing else I can do.
Driving the car today and it seems very sluggish, certainly not like a modern 2.0 litre.
Really need to get this sorted so your help is really apreciated.
Car in the garage again today and they are saying the high pressure fuel pump is faulty as each time they clear the codes the one that comes back is a sensor that is built into the pump.
Does this sound right or is it all Bull.
The car does not pull away like it is starved of fuel , generally not until the engine is very warm.
is there anywhere I can get cheaper parts as this is another bill I cannot afford.
I'd get a second opinion. The AA and a garage told a customer of mine that he needed a new high pressure pump on his 306 because that's what was showing on the fault code. He was looking at a few hundred for replacement.
A search on here showed that the most likely culprit was a sticking pump in the tank. And when we gave it a tap with a hammer it worked fine again.
He got a replacement tank pump, but it was £40 second hand, with 6 months warranty.
Just picked the car up from the garage, sthey are still saying Hight pressuure fuel pump needs replacing. They got code P1198 (fuel pressure regulator faulty). They also said that when viewing live data they could watch the pressure drop off.
Problem is I have a friend that works for Pug Parts and he is not so sure, he is not a technician or a mechanic but it puts doubt in my mind, especially considering all the other problems i seem to of had so far.
Same sort of price down here on the not so sunny south coast but i have a friend who knows someone who works for main dealer, so have managed to get a preferential rate.
Waiting to hear from them now, just hope they find it and its cheap.
I agree £80 + is madness, our is a big multi brand main dealer and they own this part of the south coast. I used to use an Ex Renault tech who started his own business and was excellent and he only charges £20 for a diag'.
I wonder what they mean about "sender unit in the tank". We've ascertained there is no lift pump in the tank. The only thing electrical in there is the fuel gauge.
