Hi all, new here.
I have a citroen c8. 2.2 hdi. I know I'm in the wrong forum, and I know I have the same engine as the 807. I am still at a loss even though I've been on the citroen forums I am no closer to sorting this.
Basically I had my turbo blow, loss of power and loads of white smoke, I was towed home by the RAC who also said it was the turbo. I removed the turbo and replace with a recon. All hoses and intercooler were cleaned, when started there was a lot of smoke which was expected, there was just no power. It's like driving in limp mode but with no engine light on.
I have cleaned the egr with the spray into the air intake, replaced the intercooler hose on the inlet, with the two butterfly valves on. The swirl valve actuator wasn't working so replaced that.
It still drives like it's in limp mode, I can hear the turbo spooling, and if you squeeze the inlet hose and rev you can feel it expand as the turbo works.
What am I missing, anyone out there know the 2.2 hdi engine doing this??

A complete guess, but if the engine is not responding to turbo pressure, maybe the MAP sensor is defective?

Do you know why the original Turbo died, might be a heads up to look for something that might have caused it and its still showing its ugly head?

Have you got vacuum? check the pipes all over as i have a leak at the mo causing no boost at higher speeds, my prob is the doser valve that I will be capping off tomorrow!

forgot to add pull the vac pipe off the turbo solenoid and give it a suck to see if you can hear the actuator working on turbo.

The old turbo has always been noisy since i bought it, i have done over 50k in it, i noticed a while back it was leaking oil from the bottom hose. i think the final death of it was the nut letting go on the blades, there were quite a few missing as well , i think that may or been the noise it always made. sounded a bit like a siren.

I have pulled a few of the vac tubes off and stuck my finger on and all that i have checked are ok. the air flow sensor was replaced recently as the old one was snapped trying to get the top of the air box off to do a filter change.

The thing i dont get is all was well until the old one went.

As its mechanical with no electrics, a new one should just bolt on and away you go, no need to tell the ecu.

The only thing left is to take the egr off and check, there is not much more to do is there??

It may be possible that shrapnel from the disintegrating impellor blades found their way into the intake taking out the sensor in the intake pipe along the way. You don't say wether the sensor change was before or after the turbo failed. If any debris made it far enough it could have damaged a valve or be preventing a valve from sealing correctly.

I would gess that the dpf is blocked from oil contamination

I had the dpf blocked a while back, giving me the antipollution fault unblock diesel filter, I replaced the dpf and pressure sensor. If it was blocked again wouldn't I get the code come up.
The airflow sensor is on the air filter box isn't it, if that is it then impeller bits wouldn't come that way against the airflow would they?

Blocked DPF could stop the turbo from spooling and no it wont always give a warning but so could a vac leak or any of the control solenoids not working properly its a complicated system you need a vacuum gauge to test vacuum you cant test with a thumb over the hole you need to see the amount and whether it varies with revs.

1 of the air dosers may be faulty.

Airlow sensor is not map sensor map/boost sensor reads airflow in the pipework and can get clogged with dirty air.

There are many posibilities and its just a case of going over every possible item and checking thoroughly

Where is the map/ boost sensor located on the 2.2? I don't think I have come across it.
I have replaced the hose dosier with the 2 butterfly valves,or throttle body as citroen call it, and the swirl valve actuator.
I'll try and get it in a garage for a vac test. Something has got blocked when it blew.

If not the sensor, then the little pipe it fits into - either could be full of oil giving duff readings...

My initial thought was the vac pipes on the wrong way round but I guess they weren't removed for the turbo swap?

They were removed from the hose end as I took all the hoses from the turbo to the inlet manifold off to clean them up. I tagged the vac tubes as I took them off, but basically they are in such a shape it's not difficult to work out where they went.
Whats the best way to clean the map sensor, there is just a little hole..

I think we have a winner.. Map sensor. Sneaky little bugger hiding under there.
There was a slight kink in the tube feeding it, took it off and gave it a clean, straightened the tube and bent the bracket back.
Car running a lot better, it's still very poor under 2k revs but as soon as you go over its away.
Still something going on when revs are low but it's usable now.
Thanks for now guys, I'll come back here next time for advice instead of citroen forum I think.
And you know there will be a next time.

Swirl flap actuator is brand new just fitted it.
But the actuator turns a shaft when it pushes out, this shaft just pivots and opens the extra valves......

A dirty or duff MAF can give similar symptoms.....
